Episode 12: Nanes, Greenfield, and Velasco
/

In this episode, Hyde and Holbrook discuss three cases decided by the North Carolina Court of Appeals on February 19, 2025. In State v. Nanes, COA24-487, the Court of Appeals upheld the constitutionality of G.S. 14-415.1, criminalizing possession of a firearm by a felon. In State v. Greenfield, COA23-597, the Court of Appeals held the defendant’s prior acquittal for armed robbery did not preclude the State from discussing the alleged armed robbery in the defendant’s subsequent trial for murder and assault. And in State v. Velasco, COA24-333, the Court of Appeals concluded the trial court did not err by instructing the jury on aiding and abetting by a parent when the defendant-mother invited another person to rape her daughter.
