Episode 6: Lancaster, Myers, and Teel

***Language Warning*** In this episode, Hyde and Holbrook discuss three cases decided by the North Carolina Court of Appeals on November 19, 2024. In State v. Lancaster, COA24-152, the Court of Appeals found no error in the trial court’s holding the defendant in criminal contempt twice for swearing at the judge (the profanity, including the F-word, is quoted here). In State v. Myers, COA24-435, the Court of Appeals found the defendant presented sufficient evidence to warrant a self-defense instruction. And in State v. Teel, COA24-‍233, the Court of Appeals held the trial court erred, albeit not prejudicially, when it excluded evidence of an excited utterance.
