/

In this episode, Hyde and Holbrook discuss three cases decided by the North Carolina Appellate Courts in March and April 2026. In State v. Cole, No. COA24-563 (N.C. Ct. App. April 1, 2026), the Court of Appeals found no error in the trial court’s instructing the jury on the felony disqualifier provision of G.S. 14-51.4. In State v. Williams, No. COA25-766 (N.C. Ct. App. April 1, 2026), the Court of Appeals held the defendant was not entitled to a mistrial due to alleged improprieties in the prosecutor’s closing argument. And in State v. Thomas, No. 262PA24 (N.C. Mar. 20, 2026), the Supreme Court concluded the trial court was not barred by G.S. 15A-1335 from imposing a more severe sentence at resentencing.
